8 Steps for Your Most Beautiful Day

The current trend in Bridal Fashion is of simple elegance. Undone is the new ‘do, and this season offers us a romantic revival of mid-century simplicity with a fresh finish. Our modern brides are trading in elaborate headdresses and veils for sleek twists on classic chignons and super chic headbands.

8 Steps for Your Most Beautiful Day

Make-up should be ultra clean. Create a bridal glow with a bare-faced style beauty, or go more dramatic with the oh-so-in red lip and a vintage flair. They key for a stylish bride in 2010 is to look polished without looking like it took all day. Be soft, be touchable, and don’t be afraid to leave a little lipstick on that blushing groom’s cheek.

1. Plan ahead! Start a wedding folio with hair pics that you love. — AND pics that you hate. It helps your stylist, and you, to understand what you desire for your big day, while steering clear of any gaps in communication that could lead to bad prom hair experiences.
2. 6 months- Consult with a few stylists and salons and find one that suits your needs and that of your bridal party. Ask questions! Do they travel? Can they close down the salon for a more private experience? Are there fees for those things? In all of the hub-bub of the day, it will be such a relief knowing your beauty team has planned ahead for you.
3. 3 months- See your stylist and consult about your big day. Go over your folder of images, and get your first trim and color. This will give you the time to fine-tune any changes in the cut or color BEFORE the big day. Make appointments for follow-up services you’ll need before the wedding like shine treatments, glosses or color retouches) (Begin Byu-ti Hair Therapy’s Bio-Niu vitamins for healthy hair that grows twice as fast!)
4. 2 months- Have your hairstyle trial. Take advantage of the fabulous test-run do and plan a fun evening out with the future Mr.!
5. 2-4 weeks- Color & Cut. You’ve got the formulation perfect, and having these services done this far ahead of time allows the color to settle and soften to look more natural and lived in.
6. 2 days- Perform an at-home treatment. Drench hair with a deep conditioner like Pureology’s NanoWorks masque; wrap hair in hot steam towel for 15 minutes. Rinse.
7. 1 day-prepare your hair for your big day by having a blow-dry for your day-before event. Not only will your hair be in the perfect condition for holding your style, you’ll look fabulous at the rehearsal dinner, too!
8. Wedding Day– Do not wash hair (unless recommended by your stylist). Have hair styled as planned.

Summer Hairstyles

DOWNEY, CA During those hot summer months, it will be important to stay cool, while keeping fashionable in your sassy summer styles. Keeping up on seasonal trends and tools will ensure that you always remain stylish and fashion forward. Rosey Ibarra, owner of the Urban Roots Salon in Downey, CA continually proves herself to be on the forefront of fashion and has the hottest summer hairstyle tips to share with you!

Summer Hairstyles

When it comes to your overall look and hair fashions of summer, Ibarra predicts the newest trends will focus on loose and natural looking hairstyles. “This season, it will be all about exuding effortless hair designs with soft beach waves that feature long and loose layers. Your summer hairstyles should not emphasize perfection of hair with exact placement of curls,” notes Ibarra. To achieve the natural, beach wave, Ibarra recommends creatively using a new ceramic styling rod. “Enzo Milano’s new styling rod is my personal favorite to create these loose and natural waves that will last a couple of days,” notes Ibarra. She also suggests separating your waves and curls by using a very soft wax and styling products that your professional hair designer can recommend for you. “Place a small amount of wax on your hand, flip your hair over in the front and pull product through from underneath to create texture with layered looks. Flip hair back and let it naturally fall into place. This will provide you with wonderful volume and separation in the waves to give it that effortless glamour.”

Natural Summer Hair color Ibarra suggests that you talk with your professional hairstylist about all of the new summer hair color and highlight options that are available to you. Explore lightening your hair, while working with warmer tones. “For brunettes, I recommend hair color shades of the sunset with both golden and amber tones. This will brighten up your complexion for a healthy summer glow. For redheads, use the gold tones as well, yet you should try warm copper instead of cooler red shades. For blondes, you will need to enhance you summer looks with a soft, sun kissed set of beautiful highlights. Talk to your hairstylist about leaving a touch of shadow in the re-growth, to give your hair a glamorous natural look.” Ibarra remains the only American Board of Certified Hair colorist in a 10 mile radius of Downey, CA.

Summer Hairstyles

Summer Hairstyles “Many of my clients go on summer vacations and the last thing they want to worry about is their hair. As a hairstylist, I suggest you consider taking advantage of a new Brazilian Blowout service this summer. This hair smoothing service will provide you with totally frizz-free, shiny and effortlessly manageable hair with plenty of body and bounce. It will last up to 12 weeks,” notes Ibarra. For the ladies who have long, layered hair, Ibarra suggests you learn how to create a new faux-bob to keep hair off your neck in the heat. “To create the faux-bob, gather the longer, underneath section of your hair. Then, twist and pin your hair tightly around the nape. Let the longer, top layers fall over the tucked hair to create a beautiful soft bob hair design,” notes Ibarra.

Latest Shade Hair Color

One’s natural hair color isn’t always 1 shade all over. Lighter and darker hues reflect and deflect light and hair colors change as we step in the sun or use certain products.

Highlights seem to be the normal thing to get every summer…go lighter with the warmer weather they say. Who are they, anyway? If you’d rather go for something solid, such as your natural hair color before the sun baked it or products touched it, check out our hairstyle gallery for some great ideas on non-highlighted looks. The pretty brown shade on the left from the stylists at Hob Salon isn’t too dark and not too light but most importantly, it’s not obviously riddled with numerous shades. Here are some other great colors from HOB SALON stylists.

Latest Shade Hair Color

While red is not a color everyone is comfortable becoming, it IS a color everyone notices. If you want to be one single shade of hair color AND still get lots of attention, go red.

Dark ebony black is gorgeous and has of late, become popular on fairer skinned complexions where it was once known to be too dark. Going jet black is a drastic change but you will be sure of one thing-highlights be gone!

Latest Shade Hair Color

This solid dark brown is not quite as dark as black but nearly. It hides any signs of previous color or highlights without being as drastic as black.

Not many highlights on this head because the entire look is extremely light to begin with. There will always be a few strands darker or lighter on blonder tresses but dying it one solid color will bring it back to a more even tone allover.

Straight Up Blonde Hairstyle

I love, I love, I love my blonde hair! But I was not always a blonde. My hair used to be a mousy brown with blonde highlights and at times, I would pull the blonde chunks in front of my face appreciating the light on my skin…the features it brought out…the vitality I appeared to have! To go completely blonde however was an entirely different obstacle I had to get over if I wanted to stop wishing I were blonde and become it. Many blonde hairstyles wig try ons, virtual hairstyle applications, consultations with the salon and 3 years later, I finally took the plunge and went blonde…but not just blonde, BLONDE blond-like holy cow you are blonde!! blonde. In any case, I turned to look at the mirror and saw this stranger wearing my clothes looking at me…and she was freaking HOT. It was yours truly, and that was the day I found myself…alright who am I kidding. That was the day I found my hair color. Think you have enough skill to attempt this puppy yourself at home? I sure would not! When it comes to dying your hair blonde, missing spots can be tricky, getting the hairline, having some parts in various shades due to a miscalculation in formula…this drastic a change deserves some professional treatment at a well reputed salon. Besides, if all goes to hell you will have someone to sue! Below are some pretty blonde shades that might inspire you to lighten up this summer.

Straight Up Blonde Hairstyle

This long blonde hair is a great shade of various yellows and light browns creating a mish mash of color. It looks healthy, it looks natural and it looks like the blonde of an all American girl next door.

Almost a hint of red in this blonde, this is the perfect shade for this type of curly hair; anything lighter would create a dryer look.

Straight Up Blonde Hairstyle

Ayy Carumba! This blonde is platinum; not a typical blonde anymore but it sure is gorgeous. Definitely get professional advice on this hair color and not just in terms of doing it yourself or having a professional, more in the sense of WILL THIS HAIR COLOR SUIT ME? When you go this light, skin complexion and hair type are more of a consideration.

Not as white as the platinum and not as yellow as the all American girl next door, this blonde is a sexy solid shade that says look at me while still being somewhat modest. This is one of my favorite colors. Sold on going blonde yet? If so, write and tell us about it! We might feature you in one of our upcoming articles!
